PHASES? WHAT ARE THEY?

I HAVE 3 PHASE POWER FROM ERGOM SUPPLYING MY HOME. CAN I STILL USE A SINGLE PHASE GENERATOR?

Yes, it isn't a problem.
If you have 3 phase supply from Ergon we can still wire up a single phase generator inlet, there are just a few things to consider first.

When a house has 3 phase supply, it is because of 1 or 2 reasons:

1. Your house has a 3 phase load connected, such as a large air-conditioning unit, or
2. Your calculated power demand is too large for a domestic 1 phase supply, so a 3 phase supply is required to share the load across several phases.

Either way, as long as you don't need to run that big 3 phase air-conditioner during a power outage, a single phase generator and inlet can still be connected.
If a property has 3 phase connected because of a large power demand, it may mean that you need a larger sized generator and inlet to keep your essential items running. 
If you do need A LOT of power, a more detailed assessment of your needs will need to be made.
