Having appliances that run on gas can make great sense.
What you pay for your gas usage is saved on less electricity usage, so your even there.
Sometimes a gas appliance can be more efficient than that of its electric powered counterpart, so you could have a small win there.

What if I run out of gas?
Keep 2 bottles silly!
When one runs out, swap to your 2nd Full bottle, and get the emptied one filled before the 2nd runs out. And repeat! Never run out!

When your on backup power running your home from your generator, you don't need to worry about hot water power usage or cooking with your stove and oven. Although you will usually need power on to ignite your gas appliances and keep them operational, a backup power inlet and changeover switch would allow these appliances to have power for these functions.
